What is Personal Branding Photography?

Personal Branding Photography is more than just a headshot. Its purpose is to tell the unique story of who you are and what you offer to your audience and clients, not simply to show them what you look like. The goal is to be really intentional and create:

  • An on-brand, compelling portfolio of images showcasing you and your brand story
  • Images that you are proud of that will increase your visibility and engagement online
  • Images that resonate, attract your ideal clients and level up your business so you can generate more sales

Gaining Brand Clarity

Before doing a personal branding photography session it is vital that you have clarity about your brand, how you want to come across and how you are going to use your images. You may have chosen some brand words and values that reflect how you want your clients to experience your product and service and how you want them to feel when doing business with you. That’s a great start, but let’s go deeper than that.

Spend some time to reflect on how you see your best, future self. Can you bring that into the present? What do you want to communicate to your audience? Do you want to take them on a journey? What makes you and your business distinctive and unique? How and where will you use your images? Do you need a specific size and shape or negative space for text, for example? The more specific you can be at this stage, the better your session will be and the happier you will be with your images.

Personal Branding Case Study

Isabel Gondar is a holistic coach with a background in health and fitness. Initially working as a personal trainer, she soon realised that a more integrated approach would better serve her clients. She was drawn to yoga as a way of connecting mind, body and spirit and teaches at Loughborough Hot Pod Yoga, alongside working with her coaching clients. It was important to Isabel to have an outdoor session so we planned to be at a local lake area and she brought outfits for a couple of different looks. Showing Isabel’s personality and sense of fun was important, as were a holistic approach, trying hard things (take a look at some of those yoga moves!!) and sources of inspiration in the books she is reading.

Here’s what Isabel said after her personal branding session:

‘Thank you Ruth for the branding photoshoot, I love how my photos turned out; it’s exactly what I had in mind. This was my first branding photoshoot and I’m excited to show my photos across my social media platforms. The whole process was fun and you made me feel at ease. I can’t wait for our next photoshoot!’

If you need some new fresh, new images to take your business forward, please get in touch, I’d love to help! Even if you’re not quite sure what you want yet, I can help you consider different options and we can design a shoot that is a great fit for you.
